Friends of Figma BH: Demystifying AI in Practice with the People Who Make It Happen

Artificial intelligence has stopped being a promise of the future and has become the most powerful tool in our creative present. But how, in fact, can we effectively and ethically integrate it into our daily work? That was the question the Friends of Figma Belo Horizonte community gathered to answer at an incredible event with the theme "AI in Practice."

The atmosphere wasn't one of abstract theories or futurology, but of a "hands-on" approach. The proposal was clear: to share real experiences, learn from successes, and, most importantly, from the challenges that colleagues from major companies are facing while embarking on this revolution.

Real-World Cases: AI Beyond the Hype

The evening was illuminated by presentations from professionals on the front lines of AI implementation. They brought concrete case studies, showing how the technology is being applied to solve complex problems and optimize processes.

While the specific details of each case are the companies' property, the central themes were a common thread for everyone present:

  • Automation of Repetitive Tasks: How AI is freeing up creative and development teams from manual and repetitive work, from generating design variations to writing boilerplate code.

  • Accelerated Prototyping and Ideation: The ability to generate interfaces, content, and user flows in seconds is drastically shortening the experimentation cycle, allowing more ideas to be tested in less time.

  • Data Analysis and User Insights: The use of AI tools to process large volumes of feedback and usage data, extracting valuable patterns that guide design and product decisions.

AI has not come to replace the creative or strategic professional, but to be a powerful copilot, amplifying their talent and intuition.

The Value is in the Exchange: Shared Experiences and Challenges

More than the solutions presented, it was the debates about the challenges that made the night truly special. During conversations and networking, some topics emerged repeatedly, showing that the pains are collective:

  • Governance and Ethics: How to establish clear guidelines for the use of AI? Who owns the generated content? How to avoid biases in the models? The discussion showed that companies are scrambling to create structures that ensure responsible use.

  • Integration with Existing Workflows: Inserting new technology into already consolidated processes is a cultural and technical challenge. The consensus was that gradual adoption and continuous training are key to success.

  • The Learning Curve: The speed at which new tools and models emerge is dizzying. Staying updated and knowing what to use and when to use it has become a critical skill.

It became evident that the AI journey is not a sprint, but a marathon of continuous learning and adaptation. And it is in these moments of genuine exchange that the community strengthens, finding paths together to navigate this new frontier.

BH's Innovation Ecosystem in Action

The Friends of Figma BH event was a microcosm of what makes Belo Horizonte's tech scene so vibrant: collaboration. Seeing professionals from competing companies, or from completely different sectors, openly sharing their successes and failures is proof that when it comes to evolution, there is no competition, only collective growth.

AI is a democratic tool, and its strength is multiplied when its use is shared.

Where Do We Go From Here?

The "AI in Practice" event left a feeling of optimism and urgency. Artificial intelligence is no longer a differentiator, but a foundation. Those who have not yet started to explore its possibilities are, literally, being left behind.

We are immensely grateful to all the speakers, organizers, and participants who made this evening so enriching. The shared knowledge is fuel that drives the entire community forward.

The conversation doesn't end here! Let's continue sharing, learning, and building, together, the future of design and technology.
